The first set of artistes that will perform at this year’s The Headies (Hip hop world awards) have been revealed. The organizers unveiled MI, Flavour, Brymo, Waje, Muna, Tiwa Savage, Ice prince, Olamide, Omawumi and Dr Sid as the acts that will thrill guests with spectacular performances.
‘Kele kele Love’ crooner, Tiwa Savage and Olamide of the ‘Eni Duro’ fame are the first set of artistes booked to perform at the event. Chocolate City’s duo of Ice Prince and Brymo are billed to perform ‘Oleku’, a song that almost replaced the National anthem last year. This will be their Hip hop world awards debut. MI will be making his second appearance at the event, this time with Flavour, who he recorded the track ‘Number One’ with.
Another collabo that will come alive on The Headies’ stage this year will be Banky W’s and Sound Sultan’s ‘Very Good Bad Guy’. Sultan and Flavor will also perform their hit single “Orobo” at The Headies 2011. Former beauty queen Muna and talented vocalist, Waje will rock the stage too. The duo has enjoyed an amazing 2011, receiving massive airplay for ‘So Inspired’.
Dr SID and Omawumi ensure it is not a clean sweep for collabos this year at The Headies. It is likely that Sidney Esiri and Omawumi will be the only acts who would not follow this year’s collaboration theme.
“These are artistes we are all familiar with. Their involvement with the Headies will guarantee one thing! – This year’s edition will be the best and most exciting!” the brain behind the awards, Ayo Animashaun says.
This year’s show will take place at the New Expo Hall of Eko Hotel and Suites, Lagos on Saturday, October 22, 2011.The theme is: “Standout, Surpass, Break from the norm.”-DAILY TIMES
