Fast rising Nigerian music artist Dumebi is proving all her critics wrong and making all her fans and supporters very proud of her, with the release of yet another single “TELE MI”. After working tirelessly with her production team, Dumebi says Nigeria and all of Africa should expect a mega-hit when the song is finally released.

FRSC ANNOUNCED ALTERNATIVE ROUTE TO ABUJA

The FRSC on Sunday announced the closure of Abuja-Lokoja road due to the overflow of River Niger which has made it dangerous and impassable.
It has announced additional alternative routes for vehicles coming into Abuja from the South-South and South West zones.
Mr Augustine Aipoh, the zonal commander in charge of the FCT and Niger, who announced the routes, directed motorists from the zones to take Jebba-Mokwa-Makera-Tegina-Suleja-Abuja route.
Aipoh said that they could also take Zungeru-Minna-Lambata-Suleja-Abuja or Jebba-Mokwa-Kutigi-Bida-Lapai-Lambata-Suleja-Abuja road.
Motorists driving from Lagos and wishing to use Okene-Lokoja-Abuja road are urged to divert to Okene-Ajaokuta-Ayangba-Ankpa-Makurdi Lafia-Akwanga-Abuja route.
It said those coming from the South East should use Otukpa-Makurdi route and those driving from Abuja to Lokoja should use Akwanga-Lafia-Makurdi-Ankpa-Okene route.

Iran blocked YouTube and its owner Google over the weekend because of an inflammatory movie trailer about the Prophet Mohammed that has infuriated Muslims in many countries around the world.
The sites were blocked “because of public demand,” Iran’s semiofficial Mehr news agency said Monday.
“Google and YouTube continued to carry the film clip that insulted our people’s sacred beliefs,” the agency said, citing an unnamed source in Iran’s Internet Authority.
Iran’s president slams anti-Islam film
Iran was responding to a 14-minute online trailer for “Innocence of Muslims,” a once obscure film that mocks Mohammed as a womanizer, child molester and killer.
There are indications that, more middle east countries will join Iran in the blocking of this search engine.

MAY D LAUNCHES NEW RECORD LABEL

May D says the name of his newly formed label is ‘Confam Entertainment‘. The ‘Ile ijo’ singer while speaking with HipHopWorld Magazine has also hinted about signing a UK based singer – but he’s ‘still watching’.
After his bitter split with Square Records, it was rumoured that the singer who emerged in the Nigerian music scene in 2008 may sign with Davido’s HKN label. Apparently, the move was never made.
May D will be also releasing his new video ‘Gat me high’ which was shot in Atlanta and will feature as the first single off his forthcoming debut album.
Before joining Square Records, May D was linked with rapper Alaye’s Ice Cream Records.

MIKEL OBI DELETES TWITTER ACCOUNT OVER RACIST COMMENTS

Mikel Obi has deleted his Twitter account following racism comments posted by upset Chelsea fans.
After his most recent game with his club Chelsea against Juventus, the midfielder was attacked on Twitter for ‘costing’ his team the game.
Although the game ended in a 2-2 draw, Chelsea fans blamed the 25-year-old for giving the ball away just ten minutes before time and also not preventing the equalizing goal.
After much pressure, the Super Eagles player deleted his account.
In a swift reaction, Chelsea FC released a statement concerning the racist tweets and stated the London Police have been duly informed.
We’ve been made aware of racist tweets targeted at Mikel which are totally unacceptable, disgusting and abhorrent. We’ve informed the police and support taking the strongest possible action’, the statement read.

WOMAN GIVES BIRTH TO A HORSE IN A CHURCH

Worshippers of the World Liberation Ministry located along old Sapele-Benin express road on Tuesday took to their heels during a prophesy programme when a female member delivered a horse.The horse was however dead by the time Journalists visited the church.

It was gathered that the woman whose identity was not yet known started screaming during the prayer session and began to bleed from the vagina before the horse came out.

The General Overseer of the church, Evangelist Silva Wealth, said he was still amazed at what came out of the woman.

The horse delivered by the woman in an Edo State church on Tuesday.

He told Journalists that during prayers a revelation came that there was a woman with an issue and that something was blocking her womb.

Silva said as prayers intensified, the woman started screaming and bleeding started when the object came out.

The cleric said he couldn’t confirm whether the horse was dead or alive because he didn’t go near it.

 “I can’t describe the object. We have seen people that vomited several things during our service but not this type of thing. God has been blessing our ministry with prophesies and miracles, “he said.

People rushed to the church to catch a glimpse of the horse when news of the delivery filtered into town.

SENATE GIVES GO AHEAD ON N5000 NOTE

by the Senate to start printing N5000 note in 2013.

Printers in Lagos on Monday, explained that CBN had already given the firm a specimen of the proposed note.

ANOZIE WINS GOLD NO.6 FOR NIGERIA

Anozie, 36, failed to lift 162kg in her first attempt but came back to lift the same weight which eventually gave her the lead. Her third attempt to lift 165kg failed; she would have equalled the Paralympic record had she succeeded.
Anozie’s success added 12 points to Nigeria’s credit to put the team at the top of the women’s world powerlifting rankings with 71 points.
Nigeria leads China which has 65 points, while Egypt is third in the rankings with 62 points.

DANA TO FLY AGAIN

The Federal Government this evening lifted the suspension of the Operating Licence of Dana Airlines.
According to a statement from the Minister of Aviation's office, this action is as a result of government’s satisfaction with the air-worthiness of the airline after a rigorous technical, operational and financial audit of the airline.
As a result of this, Dana Airline can resume commercial flight operations in Nigeria. 
The statement however added that the government would continue to strengthen its oversight and regulatory functions and ensure that all airlines operating in the country, including Dana, would adhere strictly to safety procedures as required by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Act and all other relevant local and international regulations that ensure and promote sustainable air safety.
The operating licence of Dana Airlines was temporarily suspended following the crash of one of its aircraft on June 3.

MINISTER OF PETROLEUM RESOURCES, DIEZANI HOSPITALIZED

Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madukwe has been hospitalised in a London clinic for an undisclosed ailment.
According to reports, the minister was hospitalised late last week for stress-related ailment.
 The nature of her illness could not be confirmed, she was last seen August 31, at the commission of oil drilling activities at Orient Oil Resource Centre, near Aguleri in Anambra state.

Beyonce celebrated her 31st birthday Tuesday in true superstar fashion – on a yacht off the South of France.

Wearing a cozy navy and white sweater, the Grammy winner looked relaxed as she kicked back and enjoyed a glass of wine with husband Jay-Z. Daughter Blue Ivy, 8 months, was also on board.

As the yacht sailed around the Mediterranean, Blue's doting dad carried her across the deck. Clad in a dress the color of her namesake, the baby seemed intrigued by her surroundings.

And to top of a day of cruising, the couple stopped for a birthday dinner at Michelangelo in Cap d'Antibes, France.

POLICE ARREST MASQUERADE, FOUR OTHERS DURING ROBBERY

The Ekiti State Police Command has arrested a masquerade and four other suspected armed robbers during a shoot-out in Ado-Ekiti.
The masquerade, who identified himself as Sunday Osalusi, 24, was said to have worn the masquerade costume of ‘Sinrinminyin’ to Stadium Area of Ado-Ekiti where he and other members of his gang unleashed terror on the residents.
The Police Public Relations Officer of the command, Mr. Victor Babayemi, while parading the suspects on Tuesday told journalists that the leader of the gang, Odunayo Kolawole, was shot dead during the shoot-out with the policemen.
The PPRO gave the name of other members of the gang as Deji Owolabi, Ayodeji Obamoyegun, Peter Akinwale and Oluwatosin Adefemi.
Two other members of the gang who were reported to have escaped are Danjuma Saheed and Oguntayo Saheed.
He added that the gang inflicted machete cut injuries on their victims and attempted to rape some of the ladies among them.
The PPRO said three guns, 10 live cartridges, five expended cartridges, three machetes, six handsets, masks, two wrist watches and assorted charms were recovered from the gang.
Babayemi said, “While the gang members were dispossessing their victims of their valuables, a police woman sent a distress call to the police and men from nearby stations and the Special Anti-Robbery Squad descended on them. Kolawole, the leader of the gang, was killed in a shoot-out, while others were arrested.”
Babayemi said the suspects would soon be charged to court.-PUNCH

JIMOH IBRAHIM SACKS ALL AIR NIGERIA STAFF, SHUTS DOWN AIRLINE

Nigerian entrepreneur and Chairman of Air Nigeria, Jimoh Ibrahim announced today that beginning Monday September 10, 2012,  local, regional and international operations will be suspended at Air Nigeria as the airline will be shut down for a year following operation tensions arising  from “staff disloyalty and environmental tension”, which is not “conducive for business in the aviation sector.”
Chairman of Air Nigeria, Barrister Jimoh Ibrahim lamented that it was difficult to continue investing in the airline with the high level of staff disloyalty and weak business environment. The airline therefore urged customers to contact agents from whom they had purchased tickets for a refund and appeal for any inconveniences caused by the decision.

FACEBOOK, TWITTER FRIENDS RAISE N6M FOR DEBBIE

Her friends on Twiter had harnessed the social media site to raise over N6m for the cancer patient for overseas treatment.
It was learnt that Idiagbonya needed N6m for her breast cancer surgery, which is to be conducted at the Maryland Teaching Hospital, Baltimore, United States.
 Her friend, Michella Jonathan, who spearheaded the social media campaign, met her on Twitter in 2010.
Jonathan said that she was moved by Idiagbonya’s condition and started the fundraising campaign on August 25, 2012 after visiting her.
Idiagbonya, a laboratory technician, had detected lumps on her left breast in June 2011. She had undergone two surgical operations to remove the lumps but was later diagnosed with breast cancer on July 31 this year.
Her dad, Robert, who developed stroke in 2011 died on August 1(Idiagbonya’s birthday), a day after he was informed that her daughter had cancer. He was buried on August 31.
 Jonathan said she was moved by Idiagbonya’s story and consequently started the campaign on BlackBerry Messenger and Twitter, while also contacting some popular bloggers.
 She said, “I posted her pictures and her scanned medical documents on the BBM and Twitter and Facebook. I also contacted bloggers like Linda Ikeji, Ladun Liadi, Olori Supergal and some others about it.

SPAIN DEPORTS 27 NIGERIANS

Spanish authorities have deported 27 Nigerians for alleged armed robbery, drug trafficking, forgery and illegal immigration.
Police spokesman, Frank Mba said that the deportees were received at the international wing of the Murtala Mohammed International Airport,Lagos aboard a chartered Airline flight at about 07:30am on September 2 by officers of the INTERPOL National Central Bureau.
Mba further stated that after thorough investigation by a combined team of officers from the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), the police, the State Security Service (SSS) and the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS), 14 of the deportees were found not culpable for the alleged offences for which they were deported for.
The Police had since released the 14 non-culpable persons to their relatives, while the others were handed over to relevant agencies for further investigation and prosecution.

WOMAN DELIVERS BABY WITH ROSARY

Barely three months after the reported birth of a baby with a mini-Quran in Mushin area of Lagos State, another oddity has occurred in Sagamu, Ogun State as a woman was said to have delivered a baby boy with an Islamic rosary, otherwise known as Tesbeu.
Investigation by Sunday Sun revealed that the boy was delivered on Tuesday at Rotoluwa Maternity Home along Aiyepe Road at about 11.45pm.
Mrs. Gbemisola Hamsat, a 35-year-old mother of five, was said to have been delivered of the baby and the rosary.

MAN CAUGHT WITH COCAINE IN ROASTED CHICKEN

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), at  the weekend, announced the arrest of Vincent Chinweuwa, an auto technician, for allegedly smuggling about 2.655kg of cocaine hidden inside roasted chicken at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos.
Ahmadu Giade, the chairman of NDLEA, said the suspect was arrested during the inward clearance of passengers on a Turkish Airline flight from Sao Paulo, Brazil.
"The suspect thought his mode of drug concealment was perfect but we proved him wrong," he said. "Several drugs cleverly hidden by drug barons have been discovered and we shall continue to detect drugs regardless of the mode of concealment."

Google Plus recently made a list of its five top Nigerian celebrity users that have the highest number of followers; they include R&B singer Darey (14,311), pop singer Dr SID (14,075), rapper Naeto C (14,000), OAP Tosyn Bucknor (12,242) and fast rising rapper Yung6ix (12,406).
Google’s social network, Plus which hit 90 million users worldwide in January 2012 has just over 75,000 users in Nigeria since its launch in June 2011, according to a recent report by PlusDemographics.

COURT REMANDS OYERINDE'S MURDER SUSPECT


David Ugolor, one of nine suspects arrested over the murder of Olaitan Oyerinde, Private Secretary to Edo state governor, Adams Oshiomhole, has been remanded in prison custody by a Benin Magistrates’ Court.
Presiding Magistrate, Francis Idiake said on Friday, that the court had no jurisdiction to entertain the case, and as a result remanded the accused in prison custody until the case is transferred to a court of capable jurisdiction.
