LAGOS WATER CORPORATION INTRODUCE METERS

Shayo Holloway, Group Managing Director (GMD), Lagos Water Corporation (LSWC) said on Friday that the corporation had concluded plans to introduce meters to control water consumption in the state.
In an interview in Lagos, Mr Holloway said that metering would help the corporation to conserve water in a meaningful way.
He said that the gesture, which would help the corporation to regulate the volume of water consumption, would commence in the first quarter of 2012.
The GMD said that the development would also enable the corporation to monitor the people who were not paying for their water bills.
“The corporation has decided to introduce meters to various houses because it will enable it to know the level of water they consume so that they can account for it.
“This development comes as a result of people doing illegal connection with the corporation pipelines and claiming that they are not using our water because they don’t want to pay.
“I believe with the introduction of meters, people will be conscious of water wastage as they will be reliable for their water consumption,” he said.
Holloway noted that with the aid of metering, it would make it possible for water to circulate the entire public, and check wastages drastically.
The LSWC boss said that metering houses would help the corporation to address the challenge of illegal connection carried out by the public and the unnecessary linkages done on the pipeline.-234next
