TWO POLICEMEN KILLED IN ANOTHER KANO ATTACK

Suspected Boko Haram gunmen riding on motorcycles on Thursday attacked a police foot patrol on BUK Road in Kano, killing two policemen and injuring two others.
The drive-by attack, which took place in the Gidan Murtala area of the city, was the latest in a string of the sect’s violent campaign in Kano.

Spokesman for the state police command, Agaji Musa Majia, confirmed the attack, saying that 15 suspects had been arrested.
Early accounts of the attack said the Kano residence of the Acting Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Mohammed Abubakar, was attacked and six policemen were killed. yet another account said two officials of the Federal Road Safety Commission were killed in the attack.
Another account said the attack took place near Abubakar’s home.
However, the Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, Mr. Ibrahim Idris, said the IG’s house was not attacked. The spokesman for the FRSC, Mr. Bisi Kazeem, also said none of the commission’s officials were killed.
Four persons were arrested after Boko Haram gunmen attacked a military checkpoint in Kano on Wednesday morning.
Today’s attack comes a month after Boko Haram militants riding on motorcycles killed hundreds of people on the streets of Kano city.-PUNCH
