BEN BRUCE GETS POLITICAL APPOINTMENT
The Chairman of Silverbird Group, Ben Murray-Bruce has been appointed as a honourary special adviser in the cabinet of newly sworn in Bayelsa State governor, Seriake Dickson.
In a statement made available to pressmen, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Media and Publicity, Mr Daniel Iworiso-Markson says Mr. Bruce, 54, is expected to perform in advisory capacity as a ‘Special Adviser on Investment and Tourism, drawing on his wealth of experience in show business garnered over the years.
RMD HOSTS GUS 8 CONTESTANTS
Richard Mofe Damijo, ace Nollywood actor and Delta State Commissioner for Culture and Tourism has applauded the efforts of Kevin Durst and Fejiro Ejogbamu, two Champions that emerged from the recently concluded Gulder Ultimate Search 8. He made the remarks when Messrs Durst and Ejogbamu, accompanied by other GUS 8 Champions, paid a courtesy visit to the Delta State government house.
Speaking at the receptions, RMD told the champions that their participations at the search were just a stepping stone towards more successes in life. The other GUS 8 Champions are: Christopher Okagbue, the winner, Anastasia Azike, the last female contestant standing, Anthony Igwe, Tony Horsfall, Promise Ojiegbe, Sunday Gyang, Olanrewaju Alawoki and Patience Ihongbe. The 10 Champions are currently on a tour which will take them to the states of origin of the contestants. They have earlier toured Oyo and Edo States.

A suspected member of the Odua Peoples Congress known by the pseudonym “Ultimate” on Monday allegedly killed an employee of Etisalat, Chukwuma Eze, in the Ejigbo area of Lagos State during an argument over N10 toll.

Following the signing into law the Personal Income Tax (Amendment) Act 2011 by President Goodluck Jonathan, the president, vice-president, governors as well as their deputies are to pay tax on all their official and non-official earnings effective April 1, 2012.

IBORI PLEADS GUILTY TO MONEY LAUNDERING CHARGES
Former governor James Onanefe Ibori of Delta State today entered a guilty plea before a Southwark Crown Court in London where he was being tried on fraud and money laundering charges.Ibori pleaded guilty to 10 counts of fraud, money laundering and corrutption charges before judge Anthony Pitts.
Mr. Ibori's guilty plea has closed a chapter to a long judicial and political saga pertaining to his massive money laundeering activities in his eight years as governor of one of Nigeria's major oil producing state.
Mr. Ibori faces up to 10 years in UK prison during sentencing, which will take place after the completion of the trial of his accomplice and financial advisor, Elias Preko, a Ghanaian national.oday the judge ordered that the remaining charges would remain on file.

ECONET REQUESTS $3.1 BILLION DAMAGES FROM AIRTEL
Econet wireless has filed a suit requesting for damages from Bharti Airtel to the tune of $3.1 billion. Econet has been challenging Bharti's Airtel ownership of Airtel Nigeria claiming that its 5 per cent stake, as a co-founder, was unfairly cancelled when Zain took control, so any decision made since then without it, including the transfer to Bharti, is void. This claim has been upheld by a court ruling on January 30 which declared Bharti Airtel's ownership of its subsidiary Airtel Nigeria as "null and void".
