Seven people have been confirmed dead, and many others injured, in a bomb blast in Kaduna this morning.
Witness accounts state that two men, riding on a motorcycle, hurled an object which detonated on impact at a shop located in Ogbomoso Road, near Ori Apata in the central area of Kaduna.
According to the owner of the shop, Sunday Anigubo, his younger brother and three others were among those in the shop when the blast occurred.
However, Police Commissioner Ballah Nasarawa has denied that the explosion was caused by a bomb, saying that items from within shop must have caused the explosion.
Reacting, Anigubo denied that any item in the shop could have caused the explosion as he only sells spare parts of Peugeot vehicles.
People wounded in the blast have been taken to Rakiya Specialist Hospital, near Magajin Gari.
A total of ten shops were burnt in the ensuing blaze. Rescue efforts are still ongoing.-DAILY TIMES
