HOW PREGNANT WOMAN KILLED HER MOTHER IN LAW

 Mrs Happiness Obioha,, a pregnant mother of five, three boys and two girls, is now a guest of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Imo State Police Command for allegedly sending her 70-year-old mother-in-law, Mrs Agatha Obioha to the great world beyond over what many said was as a result of a protracted family feud.



As the act was traditionally regarded as a taboo in her community, Amaokwe Okwu-Ufuraku Awo Idemili in the Orsu Local Government Area of Imo State, the traditional ruler of the community, His Royal Highness, Eze Dr. Joseph C. Amafili and members of his cabinet decided to team up with the law enforcement agencies to unravel the circumstances that made Happiness to murder her own mother in-law said to have accepted and blessed her marriage in the family 10 years ago.


First son of the deceased, a prominent politician and an Owerri-based media consultant, Chief Greg Obioha could not hold back tears as he sobbed and wept profusely wondering what his mother could have done to warrant such a bestial act from her daughter-in-law.


An impeccable family source, who craved for anonymity told Daily Sun that Happiness (nee Esom) who hails from Amamkpu Neto in Achi Orji River, Local Government Area of Enugu State and a graduate of the Federal College of Education Yola, Adamawa State had on June 13, this year hacked her mother-in-law (Agatha) to death with a sharp short axe for allegedly being a permanent thorn in her flesh.


The soured relationship had lingered for years despite all efforts to mediate and reconcile mother and daughter-in-law by the other family members.


With constant bickering and antagonism from her mother-in-law whose second son is a South African-based university professor, Happiness on Wednesday June 13, allegedly armed herself with a dangerous object and surreptitiously hid behind a giant fridge in the parlour, waited patiently for the hapless mother of three who had entered the bathroom to have a bath.



Not knowing that death was lurking around the corner, the deceased had hardly emerged from the bathroom, heading for her bedroom when her assailant attacked her from the rear, inflicting several deep axe cuts all over her body.


The dead body of the deceased secretly locked up in a room by the suspect was later discovered by a member of the family later in the day, who upon the shocking discovery alerted the police. Speaking to Daily Sun on Friday June 29, at the Police Headquarters, Owerri, the suspect, Happiness attributed her action to the handwork of devil, alleging that her 70-year-old mother-in-law had always supported her son whenever she had quarrels with her husband. Regretting her action, she pleaded for leniency, saying that she was in dire need to be with her five children she had left behind.


The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Vitalis Onugu who confirmed the story said that the matter was still under investigation.
