The two sons were said to have demanded for N5 million ransom from their father. According to investigation, the 74-year-old victim was abducted in Ojota and taken to Obosi and was allegedly held hostage for one week by the suspects. Both Ifeanyi, who was the victim’s heir and his younger brother, Obinna, according to investigation decided to kidnap their father because he did not give them money to support the upkeep of their families when they requested.

HENRY OKAH'S ACCOMPLICE GETS LIFE SENTENCE
A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja on
Friday sentenced Mr. Edmund Ebiware to life imprisonment after finding
him guilty of having prior knowledge of the October 1, 2010 bomb blast
near the Eagle Square, in Abuja. He was also convicted for failing to
take any action to prevent it.
A South African court had earlier on
Monday found former leader of the Movement for the Emancipation of the
Niger Delta, Mr. Henry Okah, guilty of masterminding the bomb blast.

Delta State University, Abraka, was, alongside Charles Okah, the younger
brother of the former MEND leader; Obi Nwabueze; and Tiemkemfa Osuvwo,
who died in prison custody in the course of the trial, charged over the

WOMAN BURNS GIRL'S THIGHS WITH HOT IRON
The woman, Mrs. Kudirat Isekolowo, who lives at Igbehinadun area of Oshodi, said she did not know what came over her when she carried out the act.
The mother of three was arrested by officials of the Lagos State Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, WAPA, and Esther Child Right Foundation and brought to the Lagos State Government Secretariat, Alausa, Ikeja.
Traders were close to tears at Oshodi Market where the woman sells clothes, when they saw how the thighs of the 15-year old girl (name withheld) was seriously burnt, leaving permanent deep scars on her body.
The little girl was sent by her parents, who live at Agege area of Lagos, to live with Isekolowo and serve as apprentice in her clothing shop. She started living with her in November 2012.
At the WAPA Ministry, Alausa, there was anger when government officials saw the deep wounds on the girl’s body, while they described the woman as extremely wicked and needed to be punished severely.
Apart from the deep wounds on her thighs, there are also wounds all over her body, occasioned by constant beating and maltreatment.
According to the girl, Kudirat accused her of stealing her N1,000 last week, but she denied stealing the money.
65 DEPORTEES ARRIVE LAGOS
Sixty-five Nigerians were on Friday
deported from some European countries, an official of the Federal
Airports Authority of Nigeria said in Lagos.
The FAAN official, who pleaded
anonymity, revealed this to the News Agency of Nigeria at the Murtala
Muhammed International Airport’s cargo section in Lagos.
The source noted that the returnees came from Spain, Bulgaria, Romania and the United Kingdom.
The source said the deportees, who arrived at 7.40am, were made up of 48 males, 12 females and five children.
He explained that they were arrested for allegedly having expired documents and being illegal aliens.
The source said that eight of the deportees, including three females, were deported for alleged criminal offences.
He added that the eight persons were
immediately arrested on arrival by policemen and taken to the Criminal
Investigation Department, Nigerian Police Force, Alagbon Close, Ikoyi,
Lagos, in a Toyota pick-up with registration number “Ontario AZKC-549.”
A NAN correspondent who was at the
airport, reported that the five male deportees initially resisted
arrest, but were later persuaded to cooperate by the policemen.
