SOUTH AFRICAN WOMAN ARRESTED WITH HARD DRUGS

Nigeria’s National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, has unveiled the identity of a 39-year old South African woman it said was arrested last weekend with 5.5kg of methamphetamine.
NDLEA said the suspect, Duru Gcinukwazi Lindiwe, a Zulu, concealed the drugs in tins of sardines as well as in her luggage.

She was arrested in Lagos, southwest Nigeria during a routine search at the departure hall.
She has not been charged to court, NDLEA, said, seven days after she was arrested because investigation is ongoing.
She told NDLEA that she was handed the drug by a Nigerian baron in a hotel in Lagos. She cannot, however, recollect, his name or address, NDLEA said.
“The suspect, a street cleaner in Johannesburg was apprehended during the outward screening of passengers on a South African airline flight to Johannesburg, South Africa. The drug with an estimated street value of N15 million in Lagos was hidden in tins of sardines as well as in her luggage,” NDLEA said.
In December 2011, a South African lady, Nene Fikile Happy-Girl, 38. was caught with drugs while attempting to board an Emirate flight to Malaysia.
She excreted 55 wraps of substances that tested positive for methamphetamine weighing 700 grammes. She had since been charged to court and the case is ongoing.
Nigerians in South Africa have accused South African anti-narcotics agents there of punishing Nigerians the most when they are arrested for drugs along with other nationals.
NDLEA said the suspect may serve a sentence in Nigeria first before being deported to South Africa, “unless South Africa and Nigeria decide to take the matter up,” Ofoyeju said.-PM NEWS
