The University of Abuja was on Monday morning shut down by its authorities because of a protest by students of the institution.
The protest was carried out by students of the Faculty of
Engineering in reaction to the inability of the school authority to
release a timetable for their exams even when students in other
faculties have started theirs.
A University source who spoke on condition of anonymity, however,
revealed there was a problem with Engineering courses with regards to
accreditation, as those who graduated from the faculty were yet to get
their results.
“The authorities felt there is no point writing exams for courses
that have no accreditation until the issue is resolved, but the students
feel short changed by the management and that is why they started
protesting today,” the source said.
