It spoilt the carefully selected outfit of leather trousers, blue shirt and black blazer.
The 31-year-old had just arrived at the London Hotel in West Hollywood to promote her new scent True Reflections when she was attacked.
As she chatted, a female onlooker produced a bag of flour and, despite heavy security, threw it at the star.
Reports said the woman referred to Kim's estranged husband as she launched her attack, shouting: "This is for Kris Humphries."
She tried to flee but was seized by bodyguards and Kim, who was led away covered in the white stuff, took her flour coating on the chin.
She said: "That probably is the craziest, unexpected, weird thing that ever happened to me.
"Like I said to my makeup artist, I wanted more powder and that's a whole lot of translucent powder right there."
After cleaning herself up, Kim returned ten minutes later to claps and cheers from her devoted fans.
The woman was handed over to police and later released.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said Kim did not want to press charges but a non-criminal battery report was filed.-SUNUK
