OSCAR PISTORIUS GRANTED BAIL
Oscar Pistorius
was granted bail Friday, paving the way for him to be freed from
custody pending his trial in the Valentine's Day shooting death of his
girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp.
"That reaching out in the affidavit, the way that he did, placing it before the court," Nair said. "I come to the conclusion that the accused has made a case to be released on bail."
Pistorius shot and killed Steenkamp in the predawn hours of Feb. 14. The athlete says he shot his girlfriend accidentally believing she was an intruder in his house. Prosecutors say he intended to kill Steenkamp and charged him with premeditated murder, saying the shooting followed a loud argument between the two.
Pistorius' family members and supporters shouted "Yes!" when Chief Magistrate Desmond Nair made his decision after a near two-hour explanation of his ruling.
Nair set the bail at 1 million rand ($113,000), with $11,300 in cash and proof that the rest is available. The magistrate said Pistorius
must hand over his passports and also turn in any other guns that he
owns. Pistorius also cannot leave the district of Pretoria without the
permission of his probation officer, Nair said.
The double-amputee Olympian's next court appearance was set for June 4.
The magistrate also ruled that he could not return to his home, where the killing of Steenkamp took place.
Nair made the ruling after four days of arguments from prosecution and defense in Pistorius' bail hearing.
Nair said Pistorius' affidavit, in which he gave his version of the
events of the shooting on morning of Feb. 14 in a sworn statement, had
helped his application for bail in Pretoria Magistrate's Court."That reaching out in the affidavit, the way that he did, placing it before the court," Nair said. "I come to the conclusion that the accused has made a case to be released on bail."

REST IN PEACE GOLDIE,KENNIS MUSIC RELEASE OFFICIAL STATEMENT
Here is the official statement:
“With a deep sense of loss, we announce the shocking death of our darling music star, Goldie Harvey. Goldie, 31, died on Thursday after she complained of a severe headache shortly after her arrival from the United States where she went to witness the Grammy Award. She was rushed from her Park View, Ikoyi, Lagos residence to her official hospital, Reddington, Victoria Island, Lagos, where doctors pronounced her dead on arrival at exactly 7:30pm in the evening.
We consider this period a gloomy moment for us and the entire Nigerian music industry in view of the circumstance in which she passed away; the abundance of talent she exhibited in her short but eventful music career and the various opportunities her trip to the United States of America would have availed her. She is survived by her father, step- mother, brothers and sisters. We deeply sympathise with her family and fans all over the world and very grateful to all and sundry, especially, the vibrant Nigerian media for their concern and prompt reportage. We shall keep everybody informed as events unfold as we are devastated by the sudden loss.” Burial arrangements will be announced by the family. May her soul rest in peace.(AMEN)
LADY GAGA CANCELS WORLD TOUR TO HAVE SURGERY ON HIP
The US singer last night cancelled the rest of her world
tour after she was left unable to walk due to synovitis — a chronic condition
which causes joints to swell.
Gaga, 26, had tried to hide her agony from staff, but she
was in such pain she could no longer perform. Now she has pulled out of the
remaining 21 dates of her Born This Way Ball tour.
She blamed a tear in her right hip — an underlying cause of
synovitis — which will need surgery to repair.
Gaga told her 34 million Twitter fans: “I’ve been hiding a
show injury and chronic pain for some time now and over the past month it has
worsened.
“I hid it from my staff, I didn’t want to disappoint my
amazing fans.”
Gaga was in extreme pain after her show in Montreal, Canada,
on Monday.
She added yesterday: “I could not walk — and still can’t.”
Fans with tickets to the scrapped shows will get refunds, but she said of the
cancellations: “I hope you forgive me, as it’s nearly impossible for me to
forgive myself. I’m devastated.”
Synovitis is linked to arthritis and auto-immune disorder
Lupus — and regular bouts can lead to a crumbling of the joints.
The singer has previously confessed to a history of
“borderline lupus”. Her aunt Joanne died of it in 1974.
Gaga is being sued for £250,000 by ex-aide Jennifer O’Neill,
who claims the star is a tyrant who demanded that she be on call 24 hours a
day.-SUNUK

GOVERNOR SULLIVAN CHIME SAID HE STAYED ABROAD TO REMOVE CANCEROUS TUMOURS FROM HIS NECK AND NOSE
Governor of Enugu State, Mr. Sullivan Chime, on Monday night confessed to have had cancer.
The governor said he stayed abroad for
too long in order to remove cancerous tumours from his neck and nose
before they could spread.
Chime, who spoke to journalists in
Enugu, said that he was not sick initially when he departed the country
on September 19, 2012 but that his health altered as a result of the
agony and trauma he went through in the course of removing the cancerous
tumours in London.
Chime was away from the country for
upward of 140 days thus generating a controversy over how long a
governor could leave his state with many, including a Save Enugu Group
asking for a transfer of power to his deputy.
In narrating how he stayed out of the
country from September 19, 2012 to February 7, 2013, the governor said,
“In August last year, I was privileged to be one of those nominated by
the Nigerian Governors’ Forum to go to Germany to study their
federalism, I was to represent the South-East zone; I had to use the
opportunity of the trip to pass through London to do my medicals since
it was the only opportunity I had to do that. After my medical, I was
certified fit by the doctors, but I noticed that I had a little growth
beneath my jaw. Ordinarily, nobody could see it but I felt it seriously
and asked the doctors to do further investigation on it.
