SUSPECT INSERTS 66 WRAPS OF NACROTIC IN PRIVATE PART

Law enforcement agents and travellers were last week astonished when 66 wraps of narcotics, which tested positive to methamphetamine, were discovered in the private part of Mande Bala, 48, at the screening section  of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos on June 15, 2012.

The lady was promptly arrested by officials of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency shortly before she was due to board a Kenyan Airways flight to Nairobi.

AMBASSADOR OLUSEGUN OLUSOLA DIES AT 77

Ambassador Olusegun Olusola has passed away at the age of 77. A former Nigerian Ambassador to Ethiopia, Olusola wasthe producer of Village Headmaster, founder, African Refugee Foundation and Grand Patron of Nigerian Broadcasters Awards.

Olusola is reported to have died at about 6:30PM on Thursday, June 21, 2012 after a brief illness.May his soul rest in peace.

Isabella Ayuk, the Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria 2012 will not be attending this year’s Miss World’s contest but will be represented by 1st runner up Damiete Charles Granville.

It’s been reported that Ms Ayuk was disqualified due to her age, claims have it that she is older than she claims to be.

An official press release from the silver bird group says Ms Granville, to represent the country at the Miss World pageant holding in Mongolia, China in August.

According to the statement, the MBGN winner, Ms Ayuk will represent Nigeria at the Miss Universe competition.

Furthermore, the MBGN Second Runner up, Ifeoma Umeokeke will be at the Miss Tourism International holding later in the year in China.-channels

After 14 years of marriage, Pirates of the Carribean star, Johnny Depp, has split up with his wife, Vanessa Paradis.

Rumours, which have been making the rounds for a couple of months now concerning the breakup, were officially confirmed on Tuesday by Depp’s publicist.

According to a statement released by the publicist, Robin Baum, the couple were saying bye to their 14-year-old marriage and wanted their privacy to be respected. 

“Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis have amicably separated. Please respect their privacy and, more importantly, the privacy of their children,” Robin said.

The couple got married in 1998 and have since then had two kids; Lily-Rose, 13, and Jack, 9.

DANGOTE TO RESUME AS NSE PRESIDENT TODAY

Following the Court of Appeal ruling, last weekend, upholding Alhaji Aliko Dangote as President of Nigerian Stock Exchange, NSE, he is expected to resume duty today.

With the reinstatement, Dangote is expected to take over from Mallam Ballama Manu, who has been the Interim President of the Council since August 5, 2010 when SEC intervened in the running of Exchange.

Prior to his election in 2009, Dangote was the Council’s first Vice-President. He joined the Council in February 2008 as the Chairman, Kaduna/Kano/Yola Zonal Council.

FAROUK LAWAN TO PRODUCE THE MONEY TODAY

Farouk Lawan, the federal lawmaker alleged to have solicited and collected $620,000 bribe money from oil magnate, Femi Otedola, has told investigating police officers that he will produce the money on Tuesday.

Lawan, who has been suspended as the chairman of the House of Representatives ad-hoc committee investigating alleged fraud in the fuel subsidy payments, visited the Louis Edet House headquarters of the Force Criminal Investigations Department as part of his bail conditions.

Lawan is accused of having personally collected $500,000 from Otedola, while the Secretary of the ad-hoc committee, Boniface Emenalo, allegedly collected $120,000.

MOESHA STAR YVETTE WILSON DIES AT 48

Yvette Wilson, a comic who was featured on the 1990s sitcom "Moesha" and its spinoff, "The Parkers," has died.

Her manager, Holly Carter, says Wilson died of cervical cancer on Thursday. Wilson was 48 and lived in Hollywood, where Carter said she had managed a music label and worked in real estate in recent years.

Wilson portrayed Andell Wilkerson, owner of the popular hangout The Den on "Moesha." The UPN sitcom starred the singer Brandy.

Wilson was a standup comic and was featured on "In Living Color." She also appeared in the movies "Poetic Justice" and "House Party III.". REST IN PEACE

HOUSE SUSPENDS FAROUK LAWAN

The House of Representatives, on Friday, suspended its member, Farouk Lawan, over allegation that he received $620,000 bribe to clear oil marketer, Femi Otedola’s companies from the list of indicted firms accused in fuel subsidy scam.

Lawan and Otedola have admitted the exchange took place, but both claim to have acted to expose the other’s attempt at taking or paying bribe to influence the report of the House adhoc committee on fuel subsidy management.

MAN USES FAKE ROYAL NUMBER PLATE TO SMUGGLE SUV

Customs officials at Seme-Krake border in Lagos, southwest Nigeria, have intercepted a Sport Utility Vehicle, SUV, with a fake royal plate number.

The vehicle was impounded at the Seme-Krake border as one of the suspects was attempting to smuggle it into Nigeria from Benin Republic. In an attempt to evade customs charges and deceive customs officials that the vehicle belonged to a Nigerian royal father, the smuggler faked its plate number to read: Oba Ponbayi, Onisanlu of Isanlu Kingdom.

“Their fictitious kingdom doesn’t exist anywhere in Nigeria,” Mr. Sahabi Abubakar Sadiq, the Area Customs Controller at Seme-Krake border told journalists on Thursday.

“And Oba Ponbayi does not exist also. It’s just a combination of names from different parts of Nigeria,” Sadiq said.

The Customs boss said that the suspects fled into the bush as the officials closed in on them.

BISHOP OYEDEPO KNOWS FATE JULY 12

An Ogun State High Court has fixed 12 July for judgment in the N2 billion suit instituted against Bishop David Oyedepo by Lagos Lawyer, Mr. Robert Igbinedion over the slapping of a female member of his congregation.Justice Ojo of the state high court fixed the judgment date after parties in the matter submitted their written address to the court.

Bishop David Oyedepo recently  secured the services of a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Mr. Dele Adesina to defend the matter which was filed by a Lagos-based lawyer, Robert Igbinedion, in April on behalf of the young lady.

Mr. Igbinedion in the suit sought for the enforcement of the lady’s fundamental rights to freedom from inhuman and degrading treatment, human dignity, fair hearing, and freedom from discrimination.
