CHIEF H.I.D. AWOLOWO PLEADS FOR TASUED

Chief H.I.D. Awolowo has pleaded with Governor Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun State not to merge the Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED) with the Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU).
In a letter titled ‘Appeal for another look at the Tai Solarin University of Education/Olabisi Onabanjo merger plan’, the 96-year-old said TASUED has contributed immensely to educational development in Ogun State and a merger “may actually destroy the two schools”.
“The Tai Solarin University of Education is a pride to the memory of an illustrious son of this state, the late Dr Tai Solarin, and a worthy legacy which has done so well within so short time,” she said.
“Children in Ogun State, and indeed children from other states have been able to benefit from the qualitative education in Tai Solarin University of Education. This university has contributed immensely to the educational advancement in Ogun State and Nigeria. Therefore, it is my wish TASUED should not be merged.”
