Tosin Oyelowo, a 25-year-old who had lived in Raleigh, North Carolina with her parents for some years since they moved to US from Lagos, Nigeria was reported missing on Friday, December 9 in Charleston, South Carolina.
Tosin was working as a first- year pharmacy resident after graduating from the University of Charleston West Virginia School of Pharmacy earlier in the year.
MUSC reported Tosin missing when she did not report for work on Monday December 12.
"We were concerned for her safety. When we couldn't reach her, we contacted police, and now it's really more in their hands," said Heather Woolwine, the university spokesperson.
According to latest Mount Pleasant police reports, Tosin was seen by several motorists and pedestrians jumping from the Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge on Friday.
Police retrieved her purse and driver's license at the summit of the bridge in the area where she was reportedly seen.
Also, her 2007 Toyota Yaris car was recovered at the parking lot of a convenience store in Mount Pleasant where many pedestrians park to walk along the bridge's pedestrian path.
The water searches for her body by both Mount Pleasant and Charleston police, as well as the U.S. Coast Guard, have been unsuccessful since the jumping was reported.
Though Mount Pleasant's police report confirmed the jumper as Tosin, because of the driver's license in her purse and documents in her parked car, Charleston police have not released the jumper's name.
